Course specifications
We have a team of established MHFA Instructors at TCH and can offer the delivery of Mental Health First Aid England training either face-to-face or online.
TCH offer MHFA training to individuals on our scheduled open courses and on bespoke, dedicated courses for companies looking to enhance understanding of MHFA in the workplace and create an empathic team of Mental Health First Aiders to support the business and help improve productivity.
Our MHFA courses take people on a journey to understand what mental health is. Course delivery is via a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities where we look at the following aspects and how to:
- Encourage people to challenge the language we use around mental health
- Explore our different frames of reference and the stigma attached to mental health
- Help people to understand what good mental health looks like
- Explore the factors that can have an impact on our mental health
- Look at how to support yourself and others with self-care, giving the skills to influence your own mental health and help prevent mental ill health
- Teach how to intervene (including in a crisis), reassure and signpost to further support
- Teach about diagnosable mental health conditions, what unwell looks like and how to spot these signs in yourself and others
- Talk about what to do if you think someone is unwell and the steps to take for early intervention
- Talk about recovery from mental illness and looking forward
The two day course, either online or face-to-face provides you with:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – such as: self-help resources, via an employer, the NHS, or a blended approach
What we provide: We provide all training materials, including the MHFA England manual and workbook. Upon completion of the course we will issue you with a MHFA England certificate.
Cost: This course costs £250 per person.
The one day MHFA Champion course, either online or face-to-face provides you with:
- An understanding of common mental health issues
- Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
- Ability to spot signs of mental ill health
- Skills to support positive wellbeing
What we provide: We provide all training materials, including the MHFA England manual and workbook. Upon completion of the course we will issue you with a MHFA England certificate.
Cost: This course costs £99 per person.
